After seeing this a couple of times, you can’t help but start humming Jellicle Cats to yourself.

Two articles passed by my newsfeed, and they couldn’t have come at a better time. Tonight, I’m heading to meet with my poster designer on figuring out what we want Yes Virginia, There is a Santa Claus to look like in terms of marketing materials. We’ve been talking a lot about visual elements: colour, style, logos. The question I’m trying to answer, and these articles are talking about, is whether or not you should use a show’s existing branding, or make your own? (more…)

I’m Elizabeth. Welcome to Backstage Social: my space to chat about the world of communications and social media, especially in the context of theatre companies and theatrical productions. This blog started as part of my BU492K Marketing and Social Networks class, but I hope you’ll find it interesting regardless.

Some of the more interesting positions in a theatre company are the people you don’t see. Everyone has a favourite actor or actress, many of people love a particular director. Few people can talk about beloved sound designers, a fantastic stage manager, or a great producer.  (more…)
